The Hunter: Windward Arts and tips

Recommended Videos

It’s time to have some fun! Seriously, being a Hunter is so much better than playing as one of the Rebels.

Windward Art functions and tips

  • Sensor Aura or Mysterious Hunch (left-click) – Sensor Aura pings a small area around you, notifying you if there’s a Rebel nearby. Meanwhile, Mysterious Hunch makes tracks appear on the ground to indicate the general direction of a Rebel. I’m actually fine with Sensor Aura here since Mysterious Hunch can be a little inconsistent, especially if Rebels move around while your line-of-sight is blocked.
  • Capture (“E”) – This also pings the area around you, but it ensures that a Rebel is captured. The skill has several charges, each with its own separate internal cooldown. You can press “E” from time to time when you feel like there might be a Rebel that’s hiding nearby.
  • Imprisoning Curse, Insight, or Hunter’s Intuition (“Q”) – Imprisoning Curse removes the disguise of one Rebel and fixes them in place temporarily. Insight, meanwhile, will reveal every Rebel on the minimap and a bright light will mark them. Lastly, Hunter’s Intuition works like Insight, except it only targets a single Rebel and the effect lasts longer.

Note: These abilities do have their own cooldowns.

Hunter impressions

To be honest, you can’t go wrong with using Insight. Since you’re more mobile compared to Rebels (and most players will probably just remain stationary), you can quickly grab the Favor orb to fully charge your Insight burst. Upon activation, you’ll see every Rebel in the area.

You can follow them around using the minimap and the bright light that marks them. They can attempt to run away, but you should be able to chase them down.

Overall, it’s significantly more fun if you’re randomly chosen as the Hunter. You’ll just take note of the general direction where players ran off to, all while pinging the area in case an opponent is nearby. It’s so easy to be matched with players who’ll panic. Likewise, you could spot disguises in the oddest places (i.e., a wooden crate on the roof of Dawn Winery or a barrel on top of a domain/dungeon).

Lastly, if you can find all the Rebels quickly enough, you should end the match with hundreds of Windtrace Coins. Quite frankly, just a couple of successful games as the Hunter would help you reach the cap already.
