Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Youci’s Wandering Words guide

Here's how to master Youci's Wandering Words in Pure Fiction.

Pure Fiction is a new wave-based mode in Honkai Star Rail that lets Trailblazers earn a ton of free rewards. The goal is to defeat as many enemies as possible with only a handful of available turns to earn a high score.

Like the Forgotten Hall, there are rotating periods for Pure Fiction that mix in different buffs and modifiers. Youci’s Wandering Words is the first of these periods. It adds a buff called Whimsicality, which inflicts enemies with a status called Shatter after they’re attacked with an Ultimate. When a target is defeated or a new turn begins, Shatter will deal additional damage to them. Mastering Shatter is key to mastering Youci’s Wandering Words.

Best Pure Fiction Teams for Youci’s Wandering Words

Of course, Shatter alone won’t carry you through this round of Pure Fiction. If you want to three-star every stage of Youci’s Wandering Words, you’ll need a solid team composition. These are the best teams that will carry you through Pure Fiction.

Stage 1

Stage one is easy to beat with brute force since the enemies are only level 55. You should easily hit the 60,000 points threshold and get three stars with these teams.

  • Team 1
    • Welt/Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae
    • Serval
    • Tingyun
    • Jing Yuan
  • Team 2
    • Pela
    • Blade/Ruan Mei
    • Herta
    • March 7th

Stage 2

The difficulty ramps up a bit in the second stage, but it’s still manageable since the enemies are only level 65. Use these teams to maximize your point gains.

  • Team 1
    • Fu Xuan
    • Clara
    • Trailblazer (Physical)
    • Qingque
  • Team 2
    • Asta
    • Pela
    • Herta
    • Guinaifen

Stage 3

The third stage is where things get hard. Make sure your characters are leveled up and have decent Relics, otherwise, you’ll need to rely on Shatter more often. These are the best two teams for this stage.

  • Team 1
    • Serval
    • Clara
    • Trailblazer (Physical)
    • Kafka/Jing Yuan
  • Team 2
    • Guinaifen
    • Asta
    • Herta
    • Pela

Stage 4

The fourth and final stage of Youci’s Wandering Words is difficult but manageable with a well-built team. Shatter goes a long way in this fight. Here’s who you should bring for this stage.

  • Team 1
    • Herta
    • Trailblazer (Physical)
    • Natasha
    • Ruan Mei
  • Team 2
    • Serval
    • Asta
    • Guinaifen
    • Bailu

Best Youci’s Wandering Words Buffs in Honkai Star Rail

Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction Cacophony Buffs

There are three Cacophony buffs available during the Youci’s Wandering Words phase of Pure Fiction: Erupt, Excitation, and Rupture. The best of the three is Erupt since it doubles your team’s Shatter output. Shatter is absolutely necessary if you want to three-star the harder stages, so this buff will make things much easier.

Excitation isn’t as helpful, only giving enemies an 80% chance to get a stack of Shatter when they appear. This can help you clear out weaker foes and rack up some easy points, but it’s nowhere near as helpful as the other buffs.

Since Shatter is so useful, you shouldn’t choose Rupture unless you’re building your team around it. This buff increases your team’s Ultimate damage by 15% every time an enemy with Shatter is defeated, and this stacks up to 20 times. If you’re using a character like Blade or Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae that has a super-powerful Ultimate, then this might be worth it so they can be your hypercarry.

All Pure Fiction Rewards in Honkai Star Rail

Each stage of Pure Fiction has its own set of rewards, and earning more stars on each stage will net you even rarer materials like Stellar Jades and Jade Feathers. Clearing a stage of Pure Fiction with any rating will grant you these items.

  • 6 Traveler’s Guide
  • 3 Refined Aether
  • 6 Lost Crystal
  • 24 Lucen Afterglow
  • 30,000 Credits

If you manage to get the highest score on all stages and earn all 12 stars, you’ll get these rewards.

  • 720 Stellar Jades
  • 600 Jade Feathers
  • 240,000 Credits

These rewards refresh every few weeks when a new Pure Fiction period begins. This is an easy way to stock up on Stellar Jades and enhancement materials in between the usual Simulated Universe runs and Forgotten Hall attempts, so don’t neglect it.
