Can you join all factions in Starfield?

Which faction should you join?

Starfield has five major factions, each offering unique rewards, storylines, and missions. There are also a few smaller factions, religions, and corporations. If you’re a fan of other Bethesda RPGs, you might be worried about how joining one faction can change your game or lock you out of joining other factions. Here’s how many factions you can join in Starfield and how to align with them.

Yes, you can join all factions in Starfield during one playthrough. There are five major factions in Starfield:

  • Constellation
  • Crimson Fleet
  • Freestar Collective
  • Ryujin Industries
  • United Colonies

Becoming a leader in any of the factions in Starfield is possible, and you don’t have to worry about being locked out of joining other factions if you choose any faction-related Starfield traits, such as United Colonies Native. However, it’s important to remember that getting involved with multiple factions may test your loyalties. Some of these organizations are, at best, tolerant of each other, while at worst, they’re mortal enemies. You may have conflicting interests — narratively speaking, at least.

How to join Constellation in Starfield

You’ll join the Constellation faction automatically after completing Starfield’s first main story quest. It’d be hard not to join Constellation or to ignore this faction since they’re a massive part of the main story. They’re pretty beneficial anyway since you’ll get a free place to stay, access to workbenches, and some of the most potent spacesuits in the game.

How to join the Crimson Fleet in Starfield

There are two ways you can join the Crimson Fleet in Starfield. Either you’re caught smuggling, or you enlist in the UC Vanguard located in Jemison. Afterward, you will work for UC SysDef as an undercover pirate.

How to join the Freestar Collective in Starfield

To join the Freestar Collective in Starfield, you must go to Akila City in the Cheyenne system. Once there, a Ranger will approach you for help. A criminal is holding people hostage at a bank, and you’ll want to succeed with the hostage situation. If you do a good job, you can join the Freestar Rangers. Remember that choosing the Freestar Collective Settler trait during character creation doesn’t guarantee immediate entry into the Rangers. Still, it may prove to be beneficial in any Ranger-related situation.

How to join Ryujin Industries in Starfield

You can join Ryujin Industries by gaining the Back to the Grind quest, which has you apply for a corporate position. This quest automatically has you wandering about the Commercial District of New Atlantis. Once obtained, head to one of the red kiosks, and then you can complete the job application.

How to join the United Colonies in Starfield

You must sign up for the UC Vanguard to join the United Colonies in Starfield. You can do this by visiting the Vanguard representative at the MAST building in New Atlantis. Selecting the United Colonies Native trait will not grant you membership, but it gives you certain unique dialogue options.
