Can you romance multiple characters in Starfield? Romance Guide

How far can the love go?

Expansive RPGs like Starfield pride themselves on their freedom, both in terms of exploration and the player’s ability to role-play. When we think of the role-playing aspect of a game, things like character appearance and builds typically come to mind. But of course, it can also apply to the ability for players to engage in romantic relationships with certain characters. Naturally, Starfield offers players a variety of romance options to consider, and some will want to learn about the full range of these options. More specifically, some may wish to have relationships with multiple characters, so does Starfield allow for this?

Does a poly option exist in Starfield?

The answer to this question depends on how far you wish to take these relationships. If you want to keep your relationships mostly casual, then yes, you can have more than one at a time. However, anything beyond that will require you to stick to a single relationship. From what I have seen online, you will have to commit as soon as you complete one of your partners’ relationship missions and choose the Romance option.

After this point, if you try and maintain multiple relationships, you run the risk of upsetting one of your partners, including the person you choose to commit to. Your chosen partner will take particular issue with this if you have already married them, further disincentivizing you from taking the polyamorous route. If you change your mind and want a different partner, you will have to end your current relationship first.

You only have four potential partners to romance with in Starfield, which are Barrett, Sarah Morgan, Andreja, and Sam Coe. So although you may have to make some tough decisions, the game at least doesn’t swamp you with choices. Of course, for many players, the more options the better, which may make the lack of a poly option even more disappointing to them.
