How to break the Seal of the Abyss and unlock Luminaire in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC

Free the Lady of the Lake from her perilous prison.

Once you’ve assembled your full adventuring trio in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC, you’ll be able to break the Seal of the Lake and descend into Abyss Foscari, the dark, haunting counterpart to the bright-and-cheery Lake Foscari above. It’s a chill-inducing stage, with enemies moving in unsettling lockstep, and unspeakable horrors waiting in the later waves. It’s also where you’ll find the DLC’s second Seal, the Seal of the Abyss, which you’ll need to figure out how to break in order to unlock Luminaire, the final fantasy hero in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari.

Step 1: Head to Abyss Foscari as Maruto

Naturally, you’ll need to jump into a run in the Abyss Foscari Stage in order to get started with this process. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can do so by breaking the Seal of the Lake in Lake Foscari, a separate process entirely. You’ll also want to choose Maruto Cuts as your character for this run. If you’ve come this far, you should definitely have Maruto unlocked.

Step 2: Evolve your Eskizzibur into Legionnaire

Evolution

In order to break the Seal of the Abyss and unlock Luminaire, you’ll need to evolve Maruto’s starting Eskizzibur weapon into the Legionnaire. This is simple to do, requiring that you level the Eskizzibur itself up to level eight, and the Armor passive item up to level five. Once both of these conditions are met, you’ll have a chance to evolve the Eskizzibur whenever you open a chest. Once the Legionnaire is safely in your hands, you can proceed.

Step 3: Head to the Seal of the Abyss

If you pause the game and check out the map in Abyss Foscari while playing as Maruto, you’ll notice a new ? icon in the lower section of the Stage. This is the location of the Seal of the Abyss, and now that you have the Legionnaire ready you can make your way over to it at once. It’s easy enough to navigate your way there, but if you’re having trouble head south from the starting area until you reach the bottom, then head left until you reach the Seal.

It appears as a pristine red crystal, but after a few hits from your Legionnaire the Seal of the Abyss will break and crumble into nothing, permanently removing the wall of darkness that was obstructing access to the second half of Abyss Foscari and unlocking Luminaire in the process. From here, simply play out the rest of your run as normal, perhaps paying a visit to Abyss Foscari’s secret Golden Egg farming spot, and when it ends you’ll be able to purchase Luminaire on the character select screen.

Step 4: Purchase Luminaire and enjoy!

Luminaire is a powerful character that can be obtained for a suitably premium price. She triggers a Rosary effect upon leveling up, which clears out every enemy on screen, leading to chains where she levels up with the experience from clearing the screen, thus clearing the screen again. She also starts with the Prismatic Missile, a great weapon for boosting your growth once it evolves into the Luminaire later on. Now that you know how to break the Seal of the Abyss and unlock Luminaire in Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari DLC, your epic quest is nearly at an end.
