There are a lot of error codes in Destiny 2, but the CAT error code often strikes when a new season or weekly reset rolls around. It’s during these times that you may need to update your Destiny 2 files.

  • Reboot any of the launchers you may use running Destiny 2 (Steam or Epic Games).
  • Your download should start automatically for your Destiny 2 update.
  • If not, verify the integrity of the files in Steam or Epic Games.
  • Finally, if things are not fixed, clear the Downloads or Web cache on Steam or Epic Games, respectively.
  • If running from the Xbox game app, be sure to enable Automatic Updates by selecting My Collection and then Manage Installs.

How to fix the Destiny 2 CAT error code on Consoles

  • PlayStation: locate the Destiny 2 icon in your home. Click the Options button and select Check for Updates. The game should start updating immediately.
  • Xbox: while in the Xbox Home Menu, select My Games and Apps. Click on Manage -> Updates -> Destiny 2 -> Update. The update should start at once.
