How to fix character disappearing bug in Diablo 4

Another day, another bug.

Since we’re in the age of live service games, we’re seeing countless issues pop up with them, such as connectivity problems and bugs that ruin the overall experience. Sadly, Diablo 4 isn’t immune to this either. Being an online-only game doesn’t really help out, either. Problems appeared across all platforms when Blizzard Entertainment ran betas earlier this year for the ARPG. Now, as the game heads into Early Access, Diablo 4 is off to a somewhat rocky start. One issue that’s plaguing players is that their characters are disappearing. Continue reading on how to fix the character disappearing bug in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4: How to fix the character disappearing bug

This issue was present during the last Open Beta, so one would assume Blizzard would’ve taken care of it. But it’s still popping for some players. Diablo 4’s Early Access of the full release is having some issues, like not finding valid licenses, but none are as serious as this bug. Players who have been hit have claimed they can’t even start the game. At the moment, the bug looks like it’s only appearing during the character selection screen in the Main Menu, and in the open world

There are steps you can take to attempt to fix this issue, otherwise, Blizzard may have to put out a patch. If your character is not in the character creation menu, simply exit the game and restart it. This should reset Diablo 4 as a whole.

Most reports are stating that this bug happens in the Main Menu, but it looks like it’s also appearing when playing in the open world. If you access your menu, your character may disappear. If that happens, respawn into the world by exiting your session. Or, teleport to the nearest town and that should fix the issue. However, if those two ways don’t work, restarting the game seems to be the ultimate solution.

Is there a permanent fix?

There doesn’t seem to be an end-all solution for this bug. For the time being, it seems like most problems with Diablo 4 can be fixed by restarting, uninstalling, or fixing the game within the Battle.net launcher. But, expect more resources from the developer as the game fully releases on June 6.
