How to fix Cryptid Bootcamp challenges not working in MW3

Having trouble unlocking the Prophetic Squish?

The Cryptid Bootcamp limited-time event is now live in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and players can earn free rewards themed around Mothman, Nessie, Bigfoot, and more by completing easy challenges. Some of them aren’t working as intended, though.

While most of the Cryptid Bootcamp challenges are fairly straightforward, requiring you to get kills in Multiplayer or complete certain objectives in Zombies, one of them, in particular, has unclear wording that has led to players using the wrong weapon and not earning any progress.

The Prophetic Squish Cryptid Bootcamp challenge requires you to get 40 Operator kills with the Marksman Rifle Conversion Aftermarket Part equipped while using the Threat Identification System and Stalker Boots perks. This challenge isn’t working for some players, but that’s likely because they’re using the wrong weapon type.

To complete this challenge, you have to use the Tyr with the JAK Beholder Rifle Kit. No other weapon will work. Some players are misreading the challenge description and using normal Marksman Rifles, which is why they aren’t making any progress. After getting 40 kills with Tyr’s JAK Beholder Rifle Kit, you’ll unlock the Prophetic Squish charm.

Some players are reporting that they’re still not making any progress on the challenge even with the Aftermarket Part equipped, though. If that’s the case for you, then try unequipping all other attachments on the Tyr except for the JAK Beholder Rifle Kit. Also, restarting the game and logging back in can fix the challenge not registering your progress.

The other challenges are working just fine, but if you aren’t seeing the progress bar fill up after a match for any of them, make sure you check the description and ensure you’re using the correct weapon type. If all else fails, you can just switch to Zombies and complete the challenges that way. Each Cryptid Bootcamp challenge has a Multiplayer option and a Zombies option, and you can complete either one to earn the featured reward.

The Cryptid Bootcamp event will only be around for a limited time in Modern Warfare 3, so make sure you complete the challenges as soon as you can so you don’t miss out on the free rewards. The Horde Hunt event is still underway as well, and the Hordepoint playlist is a great place to grind out your Cryptid Bootcamp challenges.
