How to get a Chocobo in Junon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Where can you find Junon's Chocobo?

You get a Chocobo very early in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but the game doesn’t tell you that you lose that Chocobo when you visit new regions. When you leave the Grasslands and enter the Junon region in Rebirth, you’ll need to find and tame an all-new Chocobo.

The Chocobo wrangling process in the Grasslands was super straightforward as a part of the main questline, but you’ll have to find Junon’s Chocobo all on your own. Thankfully, you’ll be treated to a unique Chocobo ability once you tame the new bird.

To get a Chocobo in the Junon region, you need to find and complete the area’s Chocobo Intel mission. This is how you’ll get a Chocobo in every new region that you visit (barring a few exceptions). Junon’s Chocobo Intel is located near Gabe’s Ranch, found to the south of Under Junon and to the west of the Mythril Mines exit where you first emerge after completing Chapter 3 of the main story.

Once you reach the Chocobo Intel location, you’ll need to wrangle Junon’s regional Chocobo just like you did in the Grasslands. Sneaking up to this Chocobo is much harder, however, as you need to jump through several hoops to avoid the watchful eyes of the surrounding Chocobos and reach your target undetected. Thankfully, you only need to do this once per region.

After taming Junon’s Chocobo, you can summon it at any time by pressing the R1 button. This Chocobo’s unique ability allows it to scale specially marked walls found throughout the region. They have giant upward arrows and Chocobo icons drawn on them, so they’re hard to miss. You’ll need to use the Chocobo to reach most of the World Intel in Junon, so taming the bird early on is a good idea.

Since you can’t return to the Grasslands region for quite some time, having another Chocobo available to use in Junon is a godsend. Make sure you take care of any business that you need to in Junon before progressing too far in the main story as well since you won’t be able to return until you complete a few more chapters.
