LEGO Fortnite takes all the aspects fans know and love about open-world sandbox games and throws them into the LEGO world. Of course, you’re going to need to survive, and we’re going to break down how you’ll be able to defend yourself with a Shortsword.
LEGO Fortnite: How to Get a Shortsword
Combat within LEGO Fortnite isn’t a walk in the park, as most of us expected it to be. More often than not, you’re going to be diving into caves or exploring the wilderness and having to go up against enemies.
While your fists are going to be useful at the onset of your journey in LEGO Fortnite, you’re going to want to craft a Shortsword eventually, as this will greatly improve your odds of survival.
The first step to creating a Shortsword is to build both a crafting bench and a lumber mill, as these will be the two work stations players will need. Next, you’re going to want to chop down some trees to gather wood, and you’re going to want to turn that into Wooden Rods.
Finally, take five of these Wooden Rods and use the crafting bench to make a Shortsword, and you’ll be ready to head into combat against all enemies — well, at least the easy ones.

This is generally the process players will have to undergo to make any items within the crafting bench, as they’re going to more than likely require some rods.
The Shortsword is going to do decent damage to most enemies, and you’ll still need to have good movement when it comes to dodging attacks. But you won’t be left with punching wolves, at least!
As you progress throughout the game, you’ll be able to craft other types of swords that are obviously going to be more useful than this one, so keep this in mind when crafting a bunch.
