Tears Of The Kingdom Champions Leathers Guide

How to get the Champion Tunic in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

Dress like a champion.

The Champion’s Leathers is a revamped version of the Champion’s Tunic from Breath of the Wild. And while you start off with it during The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s opening, it’s quickly taken away from you. But since it’s such a cool tunic, you’ll want to get it pretty soon. Luckily, you can get the Champion’s Leathers fairly easily in Tears in the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom: How to get the Champion’s Leathers

Step #1 – Finding the clue

So, let’s start this off by finding the clue that tells you where the Champion’s Leathers are. You’ll need to head over to Hateno Village and enter the well behind Link’s old house from Breath of the Wild. Check out the map below for the exact location.

Once you get into the well, you should see a small desk with a journal. Read this, and you’ll get the clue that’s integral to finding the Champion’s Leathers. There’s also a chest to the left of the desk that contains the Well-Worn Hair Band which gives Link his old hairstyle back.

Step #2 – Getting to Hyrule Castle

This is where things get a little tricky. We now need to get into Hyrule Castle, but there’s a problem. The entire structure is now floating above the ground. But this is Tears of the Kingdom and there are lots of ways to actually get up there. The two best methods are either to build some kind of flying machine, or glide to the castle from the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower. To glide in you’ll either need at least three Stamina upgrades, or some Stamina restoration food.

Once you’ve touched down on Hyrule Castle, all you need to do is enter the Sanctum. It’s the room right at the base of Hyrule Castle as seen in the above picture. Once there you’ll see a staircase that wraps around the back half of the room. Head up those steps, and you’ll see a statue of a bird. For all the Skyward Sword fans out there let’s just call that a Loftwing. Near this statue are two unlit torches, and to reveal the Champion’s Leathers you’ll need to light these. The easiest way to do this would be to launch a Fire Arrow at both torches.

After the torches are lit, the statue will move out of the way and reveal the chest containing the Champion’s Leathers. This is one of the better chest pieces in Tears of the Kingdom thanks to the high defense. But you’ll need to find some Silent Princess and materials from the Light Dragon to upgrade it at a Great Fairy.
