The Everburn Blade is one of the best weapons you find early on in your playthrough of BG3. This weapon is found before you even leave the Nautiloid tutorial section. You can find the Everburn Blade on the Nautiloid, as it is equipped to Commander Zhalk during the last fight you have on the ship.

Now that the location of the Everburn Blade is known, we now have to figure out how exactly to take it from the commander. This is easier said than done, as even on easier difficulties, Commander Zhalk is quite the beefy opponent this early into the game.

Taking the Everburn Blade from Commander Zhalk

There are two ways you can go about obtaining the Everburn Blade in BG3. You can, of course, kill Zhalk and remove it from its corpse, or you can have him drop the weapon. And while the former is an option, he has an AC of 17, along with 150 HP.

Having Zhalk drop the weapon is probably your best bet, and you have a friendly Sharian ally to help with that in the form of Shadowheart. Use Shadowheart’s ability, Command: Drop, and Zhalk will loosen his grip on the weapon, causing him to drop it. Next, make sure you have a character that is close enough to pick it up off the floor. Congratulations, you’ve now acquired the Everburn Blade in BG3.

You can choose to finish Zhalk for some sweet XP or make a B-line straight to the transponder of the ship. Either way, you now have the illustrious Burning Blade, and it can be equipped with characters with Greatsword or Martial Weapon proficiency. And if no one in your party can use the Everburn Blade, you can at least sell it for a pretty penny.
