How to heavy punch in Party Animals

Not just any old punch.

Say you pick up Party Animals on a whim and decide to boot up a few matches with your friends. You stumble around and wildly punch at your friends’ animal avatars until they hilariously ragdoll on the floor, allowing you to pick them up and toss them into their oblivion. You have a good laugh, but eventually, your competitive side starts to take over as you look for more efficient ways to knock players out for a potentially game-deciding toss. Fortunately, the heavy punch serves this exact purpose, but assuming you want to jump straight into Party Animals with some friends without sitting through the tutorial, how exactly do you perform this maneuver?

What to do to perform a heavy punch

Unlike in other games with a heavy attack, you don’t execute the heavy punch in Party Animals by pressing a different button from the standard light punch. Instead, you move while holding down the run button and then press the punch button. A slightly more complicated input, but ultimately still simple to perform.

During my time with the game, every heavy punch I landed on an opponent would knock them out instantly. So it seems safe to say that the move can come quite in handy during hectic brawls, especially since you stay mobile while executing it.

Having said that, the move comes out in such a specific way that it can often just barely miss your opponent if your timing is just slightly off. Additionally, the heavy punch will deplete a portion of your stamina meter on top of the amount you burn by holding the run button, so you can’t use it all the time. It’s best to view the heavy punch as just one of a variety of tools you have at your disposal in Party Animals. If you rely exclusively on just one of your tools, you will probably end up struggling more.
