Lords of the Fallen has a great range of attacks that you can perform, allowing you more control over how you fight. The strongest attack in your toolkit is the grievous strike, but it’s not so easy to pull off. Performing a grievous strike takes a bit of time, but it’s oh so worth it. Here’s how to execute a grievous strike in Lords of the Fallen.
Performing the Grievous Strike in Lords of the Fallen
The grievous strike isn’t easy to do, but it’s well worth the effort. This attack will be easier to perform on some enemies over other enemies, as it relies on posture. Posture is an invisible stat that, once depleted, staggers an enemy in Lords of the Fallen. Be careful — as this can happen to you, too!
A grievous strike can only be executed when one has been parried after their posture reaches zero. Every sort of attack also deals damage to an enemy’s posture, but there are some actions that really get the job done:
- Charged heavy attack to the back
- Kick from behind
- Parry

Those are the main methods to reduce one’s posture to zero. Once this happens, the lock-on dot will turn red, and you’ll have a brief moment to get in front of them and perform a light attack. This will turn your light attack into a grievous strike, and you’ll get to witness the massive damage and a cool animation.
The grievous strike does enough damage to mostly recover any health withered by parrying. Try not to parry every attack as you try to reduce their posture, as then your entire health bar will probably be withered. Trust me, it’s not worth it.
To prevent yourself from being on the receiving end of a grievous strike in Lords of the Fallen PvP, be careful of attempts to reduce your posture. Don’t let your opponent get behind you, and be careful of parry attempts. To preserve your posture, blocking with a shield rather than a weapon will allow less posture damage to get through.
But the best defense when it comes to the grievous strike, is a better offense. Taking them down before they reduce your posture to zero is honestly the best advice I can give you, as posture doesn’t regenerate with time. So simply running away for a bit won’t cut it.
