How to play Buckshot Roulette on Mac

It's not officially supported, but it's possible.

If you’ve been scrolling through gaming content on TikTok or other social media platforms, then you’ve probably heard of Buckshot Roulette. This breakout indie is only available on PC at the moment, but Mac isn’t one of the officially supported platforms.

Can You Play Buckshot Roulette on Mac?

There isn’t an official Mac version of Buckshot Roulette (the game only supports Windows and Linux). There are ways for Mac users to run Windows and Linux games like dual booting through programs like Boot Camp, but you don’t need to do all that if you want to check out the game. There’s a free program called PlayOnMac that allows you to run Windows programs on macOS.

If you install PlayOnMac and follow the setup instructions carefully, then you should be able to boot Windows programs like Buckshot Roulette on your Mac computer. Compatibility is spotty depending on the chosen program and your Mac model, however, so you may not be able to get the game up and running on your computer. There’s no way to know for sure until you try it for yourself, though.

If the PlayOnMac method doesn’t work out, then sadly, you’re out of luck. You’ll just have to wait for an official Mac port of Buckshot Roulette — if one ever comes at all, that is. The game is incredibly lightweight and runs on most machines though, so you can still play it if you find an old Windows laptop or borrow one from a friend or family member. Buckshot Roulette only takes 15-20 minutes to beat, so it shouldn’t take that long if you borrow someone else’s device.

PlayOnMac is a great way to get other Windows games and apps running on your Mac device, too, so it’s a good idea to keep the program installed just in case you come across another indie game or app that doesn’t have a Mac version. Unlike some other software, PlayOnMac is completely free, so there’s no harm in trying it out with other programs like Diablo 4.
