Genshin Impact has brought a new world quest called “The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes,” and one of its subquests assigns you to reveal an Altar’s secrets.
While progressing through the “Foggy Forest Path” subquest of “The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes” world quest, you will come across a mysterious Altar in the middle of the Erinnyes forest. After interacting with the Altar, you will need to reveal its secret. However, the game does not provide any explanation on how to complete this certain objective. In this guide, we will show you how to reveal the Altar’s secrets in Genshin Impact.
How to solve the Bubble Puzzles and Reveal the Altar’s Secrets in Genshin Impact
While completing the Foggy Forest Path quest as a part of The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes quest chain in Genshin Impact, you will be given an objective to reveal the Altar’s secrets. In order to reveal the Altar’s secrets, you must solve three Harmonious Reed Pipe puzzles, which are also called Bubble Puzzles in simple terms. These puzzles are spread around the Altar, and their range will be shown on your map to make it easier for you to find them.
Puzzle 1
From the Altar, head over to the northeastern side and you will soon find the Contaminated Bacterial Mats. Now, from the nearby blue orb, acquire the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability. Once you activate the ability, hold the ability on the two Contaminated Bacterial Mats and finish them. This will spawn two bubbles in the area.
If you observe closely, you will find that all the pipes have the same amount of runes. Which means that you will need to bring all of them simultaneously. Now, use your ability to merge both of the bubbles together to make it larger and also increase its area of effect. Once they are merged, bring them to the middle of the three runes. Check if the bubble is covering all three pipes through the range shown with the purple aura. After finalizing everything, burst the bubble by hitting it and it will play the music, completing the first puzzle.

Puzzle 2
The second bubble can be found on the southern side of the Altar. Here as well, you must use the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability to finish two Contaminated Bacterial Mats. If you do not have the ability, you can also acquire it from the blue orb found in this location. After defeating the Contaminated Bacterial Mats, two bubbles will get spawned like before.
Now, this puzzle includes a pipe with one, two, and three runes each. This means you will first need to play the pipe with the single rune with a bubble, and the other two using the other bubble. Use your Xenochromatic Ball Octopus to place one bubble close to the pipe with a single rune. Place the other bubble towards the pipe with two runes, keeping slight contact with the remaining pipe. Now, hit the bubble close to the pipe with one rune first. After it is played, hit the other bubble which shall be covering the other two pipes. Once the pipes are played in this order, the second puzzle will also be completed.
Puzzle 3
The last puzzle can be found on the north-western side of the Altar. In this puzzle, you will find only one Contaminated Bacterial Mat. Defeating it will spawn a bubble and some Hydro Slimes. Take care of the slimes and you will find two bubbles around you. In this location as well, you will find a blue orb on a pillar to help you with the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus ability.
This puzzle has two pipes with two runes and another pipe with one rune. This means you will need to hit the pipe with one rune first and then hit the other two pipes simultaneously. Now, place one bubble close to the pipe with one rune. Use your ability to place the other bubble above the stone between the other two pipes. After successfully placing both bubbles, hit the bubble closer to the pipe with one rune. After it is done playing, hit the bubble between the other two pipes. This will complete the third puzzle.
After completing all the puzzles, go to the Altar to check the items. After successfully examining the Altar, you will now start the next quest of the questline, “Wilted Weeping Willow.” Completing the “Foggy Forest Path” quest will give you the following rewards.
