While the Party Animals tutorial does teach you a lot, it doesn’t teach you how to swim. There are four maps that require swimming in one way or another, so learning how to swim in Party Animals is pretty important. So without further adieu, here is how to swim in Party Animals.

How to swim in Party Animals

Swimming in Party Animals is as easy as running on land. To swim in Party Animals, all you need to do is hold down L Shift on a mouse and keyboard or hold down LT on a controller. This is the same button as sprint while you’re on land.

While you can swim around in Party Animals with WASD or the left analog stick, holding down the sprint button while in water makes your character paddle harder, which will likely result in you staying alive for longer.

Best tips and tricks to swim in Party Animals

If you find yourself drowning in Typhoon, getting frozen in Ice Breaker, or getting washed away in Gator Valley or Trebuchet, you need to learn a few swimming tricks.

First, you can only swim if you have stamina. Your stamina is measured with the yellow circle around your profile icon in the top left of the screen. When that yellow circle depletes, you’ll run out of stamina and start sinking.

Second, the moment you can do so, grab onto something. Swimming should be a temporary thing in Party Animals because, regardless if you are an Otter or Alligator or some other aquatically gifted animal, you’re very slow and clumsy in the water and it’ll almost always result in death.

I recommend swimming to the nearest structure and grabbing it. Then, quickly climb it to get back to safety. This is especially important in Ice Breaker because you’ll freeze if you’re in the water for too long, but it’s also an important tip to know in Typhoon, Gator Valley, and Trebuchet.
