Destiny 2 Superblack Shader guide: How to get and equip

The Superblack Shader – previously introduced during the Season of the Lost 2016 – is back for Guardians to get and use in Destiny 2 during the Into the Light content update. You will need to visit the brand-new Hall of Champions social space where you will meet Lord Shaxx and Arcite 99-40. Each of them will have a Superblack Key which will open the door to a Symbiote. Interacting with the symbiote will grant you the Superblack Shader.

Getting the Superblack Key Alpha will have you complete bounties and weekly quests with Lord Shaxx in the brand-new Onslaught mode – not to be confused with Lord Shaxx Crucible quests. This will take a regular amount of time since the Superblack Key Alpha will unlock at Rank 17, so you can expect to play a lot of Onslaught until then.

On the other hand, getting the Superblack Key Omega will revolve around completing weapon quests given by Arcite 99-40. You will need to defeat a specific amount of enemies by using a weapon type, with weapons providing bonus progression whenever you play Onslaught. Each of these quests will be tied to a BRAVE weapon such as the Succession or the Guillotine. You will have the added bonus that each of these quests – once completed – will unlock the weapon they are tied to as a drop.

Once you have both Superblack Keys, open the energy-shielded door behind Lord Shaax and get your Superblack Shader after interacting with the symbiote. Then, all you need to do to equip it is to head to the Character menu and select the Appearance Subscreen. Then, click on Appearance Customization and – if you want to – hover over the Apply to All button and select the Superblack Shader to apply it to all your armor.
