Like A Dragon Ishin Brawler Random Battle

Like a Dragon: Ishin Brawler overview trailer proves that an orange can be just as deadly as a sword

An honorable beatdown.

Around two weeks ago, Sega posted a trailer that gave a general overview of the combat system featured in Like a Dragon: Ishin! Specifically, the trailer went over the four combat styles that players can cycle through mid-combat. These styles allow protagonist Sakamoto Ryoma to wield a katana, a gun, or even both at the same time for some truly brutal offense. One of these combat styles, the Brawler style, forgoes all of this fancy weaponry in favor of good old-fashioned fisticuffs. A newly released trailer for Like a Dragon: Ishin specifically focuses on the Brawler style and what players can expect from it.

Although the trailer only lasts more than half a minute, it should give Like a Dragon fans enough of a rundown on the Brawler style if they never played the original Ishin. Essentially, the style carries over the traditional Dragon of Dojima moveset used by Kazuma Kiryu in the mainline Like a Dragon entries. So if you want to play Like a Dragon Ishin like those other games, it more or less won’t stop you from doing so.

A technique passed down through the generations

With a classic fighting style comes plenty of classic moves and heat actions that fans will be excited to see again. One such move sees Sakamoto shoving an orange into his opponent’s mouth and stomping on it to create a fountain of orange juice. Particularly hardcore fans of the series will no doubt recognize this heat action from other installments, namely Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami.

Interestingly, though, this heat action appeared in the original Ishin as well, so this animation is a bit older than you might initially think. Not everyone will care about this sort of trivia, but things like this could further convince diehard fans to buy Like a Dragon: Ishin to see how future games were influenced by it.
