Modern Warfare 2 secret New Year Easter Egg

Modern Warfare 2 player discovers secret Easter egg celebrating the New Year

Celebrating 2023 in Call of Duty.

It’s looking like 2023 is going to be an action-packed year for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 fans. We are just weeks away from the launch of Season Two, the next major content drop. If leaks are anything to go by, then we could see a resurgence map make its debut in Warzone 2 this year, along with the potential return of Plunder. To celebrate the beginning of 2023, a new bundle was added to the Call of Duty store. While using the guns obtained in the bundle, a player has discovered an Easter egg in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer that you may not have known about.

The New Year bundle is a tracer pack which contains two weapon blueprints. You can get your hands on the Countdown Lachmann-556 assault rifle and the Party Popper 50 GS pistol. The bundle also contains a New Year’s Eve sticker, a 2023 weapon charm, and a 2023 New Year emblem. The bundle is priced at 1800 Call of Duty points.

Modern Warfare 2 Easter egg wishes you a happy New Year

Redditor u/TNT_Jonathan explained that when you take out an enemy with either weapon from the New Year bundle, their blood splatter will turn into a message on the surface behind them. The image shared by the user shows a “23” on the wall, but its noted that it can spell out “Happy New Year,” but this is thought to be less common. In addition, fellow Modern Warfare 2 fans commented that the blueprints from the Klaus bundle that was released during Christmas time have a chance to spell out “naughty” or “nice” while using their respective weapon.

It appears that a message may not appear every single time you get a kill, but its a neat little Easter egg. Make sure to look out for a message written in blood on surfaces in your next Modern Warfare 2 match.
