How to complete The Fish Filcher in Octopath Traveler 2
To begin The Fish Filcher head to the city of Conning Creek found on the southeast coast of the western continent. From Conning Creek head north to reach Conning Creek: Harbor and make sure it’s daytime. Go down to the beach and speak to the Head Fisherman who’ll complain that his best five are being stolen when he’s not looking.
Given how side stories usually go it’s easy to assume that a journey across Solistia lies ahead. However, the Fish Thief can actually be caught in the very same spot you started this quest. Although there is a slight catch that makes it easy to miss the culprit of the The Fish Filcher in Octopath Traveler 2.
To find the Fish Thief switch to nighttime. He won’t appear straight away instead only showing up just as time transitions from night to early morning. Wait around the beach for a few minutes and the Fish Thief will eventually show up. Once the thief appears approach him and use either Throné’s Ambush or Castti’s Soothe Path Action to knock him out.
After knocking out the thief a cutscene will automatically play. The Head Fisherman will confront him on why he was stealing. Hearing the thief’s story causes the Head Fisherman to have a change of heart and recruit him as an apprentice. Once the cutscene is finished you’ve completed The Fish Filcher in Octopath Traveler 2. The reward for this side story is 6,000 Leaves and x1 Fortifying Nut (M).
Octopath Traveler 2 is available on Steam.
