Planetside 2 Escalation update brings outfit wars, Bastion Fleet Carrier, Social Sanctuary Hub

PlanetSide 2 has its biggest update ever with Escalation

Outfit Wars, Bastion Fleet Carrier, and more

Rogue Planet Games’ popular free-to-play MMOFPS PlanetSide 2 just got a lot bigger. The game launched eight years ago in 2012, but its new update, Escalation, claims to be the biggest one yet. It comes with Outfit Wars, which are brand new, guild-based tournaments for players to compete in. But that’s not all, as the game now allows you to call on the Bastion Fleet Carrier, which you can summon down to the battlefield. They’ve also added a War Assets system for Outfits and the Social Sanctuary Hub, which is a cross-empire hub allowing players to come together like never before.

Andy Sites, the executive producer of the PlanetSide series had this to add: “We are excited to provide the PlanetSide 2 community with an expansion that rewards our most dedicated players; past, present and future. The new seasonal tournaments for dedicated Outfits, Cross-Empire Social Zone, and a meta-changing War Asset System add even greater depth and scale to PlanetSide 2’s unique all-out planetary warfare gameplay.”

OutFIT for duty in PlanetSide 2

Outfit Wars is without a doubt the centerpiece of the Escalation updateIt contributes all-new endgame content for players looking for more PlanetSide 2 to lose themselves in. They’re made up of tournaments pitting multiple guilds against one another on a new map called Desolation. Desolation takes place in an asteroid field, making it the first time that players can play PlanetSide 2 without being, er, planet side.

Included in the new content is a feature that lets guilds collect resources to craft some impressive new things, including the aforementioned Bastion Flight Carrier that has turrets, cannons, respawn points, and other features; the Orbital Satellite Uplink, which allows players to call in an Orbital Strike anywhere on the map; Steel Rain, which calls in a drop pod assault; A.N.V.I.L., which airdrops a ground vehicle; and Citadel Shield, an outpost-sized bubble shield to protect players from harm.

On top of all that, there’s a new Outfit Loyalty system that lets players spend earned communal merit. As you can see, there really is a ton of new stuff to dig into. So, what are you waiting for? Jump into PlanetSide 2 and see all the new content for yourself!
