Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: How to evolve Feebas into Milotic – Teal Mask DLC

I hope you have a friend to trade with.

Whether you’re all about the classics or prefer the newcomers, there’s something for everyone in the Teal Mask DLC. One of the more unique returning Pokémon is Milotic, the bizarre-looking Water type that evolves from a humble Feebas. Many Pokémon in the Teal Mask have special evolution requirements, and Feebas is no exception. Still, Feebas’ conditions are more obtuse than most. Let me show you how to evolve Feebas into Milotic in the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Teal Mask DLC.

Before you can evolve Feebas, you need to find one first. You can usually find them in the underground lake underneath Crystal Pool.

To get there, walk through the cave to the southeast of Crystal Pool (location pictured) and fall down the hole. Feebas isn’t a common spawn, so don’t despair if you can’t find one right away. Once you have one, you need a unique evolution item, the Prism Scale. Fortunately, this item has a static spawn and is much easier to track down than Feebas.

Where to find the Prism Scale

The Fellhorn Gorge is a small collection of pools to the East and is ideal for catching Water Pokémon. The Prism Scale can be found at the map location above, right next to the pool of water in a Pokeball. Considering the still water, I expected Feebas to show up nearby, but I only found Magikarp in my testing. With the Feebas and Prism Scale in your possession, you’re ready for the final step.

Perform a Trade Evolution

Feebas will evolve when it’s traded to another player while holding the Prism Scale. The evolution will begin immediately when the Feebas arrives with its new owner. As with any Evolution like this, you’ll need the evolved Pokémon back, so don’t do this on Surprise Trade.

Is there any other way to get Milotic?

If you don’t have anyone to trade with or simply don’t want to, you can get Milotic another way. Milotic can show up as a 5-Star Raid in the Teal Mask DLC. 5-Star raids can be quite brutal, especially if your team doesn’t pull their weight. Still, this is a good alternative, and while you’re exploring the new Kitakami region, you’ll likely stumble across plenty of raid opportunities.

Milotic joins a long list of Pokémon that have unusual evolution requirements. We have guides on how to get Sinistcha and Yanmega, so make sure you check those out if you get stuck.
