Sea of Thieves finally answers fans’ demands adding Throwing Knives

The most versatile weapon is being added.

Since the launch of Sea of Thieves, there have only been four weapons. The Flintlock, the Blunderbuss, and the Eye of Reach, and the trusty Cutlass. But now, after all these years, players can look forward to two new weapons, the most anticipated being the Throwing Knives.

When are Throwing Knives coming to Sea of Thieves?

Announced in Sea of Thieves’ 2024 Preview Stream, the Throwing Knives are looking to be the most hotly anticipated feature added to the game, and that’s saying something considering all the goodies they’ve got in store for us this year.

This stream was a collection of features that will be added to the game sometime in 2024, spanning over Seasons 12, 13, and 14.

However, the Throwing Knives (as well as the Double-Barrel Flintlock) will be added in Season 12, the next one in line. This is incredible news, as we’ll be able to dive into these features sooner rather than later. I can’t wait to throw them at you all.

How throwing Knives will work in Sea of Thives

Throwing Knives are looking to become the most versatile weapon in the game, trading range for tactics.

They will have a light, stabby attack, that will be great for disrupting players and getting some quick hits in. They will also benefit from a charged attack, which not only delivers high damage but slows the player down. The Throwing Knives will be the first weapon in Sea of Thieves to inflict a debuff. Exciting!

Also, naturally, they can be thrown. It appears that there will be a certain ammo count for your Throwing Knives (which can be assumed to be three). So if you’ve thrown all of your Throwing Knives, you’ll need to restock, likely by visiting an Ammo Crate.

The damage dealt by the Throwing Knives is unclear, but it’ll likely be higher than the regular stab, and lower than the charged attack.

If you miss your attack, then it will stick into where it landed. This allows for two things: you will be able to replenish your ammo by picking it back up, but it will also allow other players to pick it up and return fire.

This diversity and range will revolutionize the PvP meta. With debuffs, a melee and ranged option, and having the quickest attack of any weapon, the Throwing Knives will earn a place in many pirate’s arsenal.

I can’t wait to see how players use it after Season 11 is finished.
