Sony has finally officially unveiled their VR headset for the Playstation 4 this evening. It has been codenamed Project Morpheus and is still in the prototype stage.

The headset is all white, with a black visor (that looks like Gort’s from The Day The Earth Stood Still) covering the eye area, and a blue glow emanating throughout.

Morpheus is designed to work as soon as you connect it, and will be compatible with the Dualshock 4, Playstation Eye Camera, and Playstation Move peripherals.

Outside of a lot of promise, there are a lot of things we don’t know about the prototype yet, such as how far development has gone along, price, health concerns, and availability. We do know that Thief and EVE Online are currently in development for the headset, as well as a Sony London project called The Deep.

Of course, it’s hard not to be excited about this announcement, and we look forward to learning more about the device soon.
