Spiderman Readies himself for Villains in this ‘Kingpin Reveal’ Trailer

One of the most promising things about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 probably has to be its development by Quebec based studio, Beenox.

When a movie gets a video game tie-in, most times the result is disastrous. Most fans can recall the actual success of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and Spider-Man: Edge of Time. These titles surpassed expectations of previous spidey titles, not necessarily because the bar was placed rather low, either. Now the developer brings in yet another installment to accompany the theatrical release of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ with its similarly titled video game.

With a new game come some of the biggest foes we’ve seen to date. One of those beastly-brawlers just happens to be the heavy set Wilson Fisk, aka the ‘Kingpin’ who we get a glimpse of in the trailer featured above. We also see yet another look at the new adaptation of Harry Osborn as the ‘Green Goblin.’ The trailer also features the mischievous Black Cat to add to the repertoire of enemies one must battle. The master of money and power might just have it in for Spider-Man, or will the rest of this menacing crew be his downfall?

The game also promises to expand on the open world experience of New York City. Players may find it more realistic to consistently spray webbing and attach to buildings. This is in contrast to the first Amazing Spider-Man video game where swinging with your web could be done practically anywhere and simply attached to the open air above. There will also be a new decision based system implemented. Much like what we’ve seen in games like inFamous, choosing to stop crimes will deliver a ‘Hero’ status, versus not attempting to aid police, delivering a ‘Menace’ vibe. You can check out the full trailer below.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is slated for release on April 29, 2014. The game will release on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. There are also PC and mobile releases expected on this date. Check out the actual theatrical trailer for the movie here, or the official Activision site for game details.
