One of the great things about XCOM 2 is that it can be modded, and although the game has only been out a few days, the community is already getting to work.
We’ve looked over the the first batch of mods for the game and these are the ones we think you should take for a spin. Be warned! as modding is fairly new, some of these may affect saves and may not work 100% while still in development. If you save a game with some of these mods installed, the save may only load when the mod is active. Just a word of warning in advance of trying these.
Your saves can be found in a location such as C:\Users\ Profile name \Documents\my games\XCOM2\XComGame\SaveData. Back these up first before testing any mods.
Free Camera Rotation
This is a simple mod that makes camera rotation a lot more precise so you can get a much better view of the action. Great when trying to figure out your next move. There has been some issues with saves using this mod but there us a workaraound which was detailed in a discussion post. If you are concerned about saves then it might be worth waiting for the first patch to come out for the game when hopefully this problem will be fixed.
Some players are not enjoying the timers on missions but this mod could help. As the mod author says, this is a “middle area between outright removing the timers and extending them”. When the team stays concealed the timers don’t tick down. It’s still early days for this mod but it’s worth trying out.
This mod goes a step further than the one above, it disables the mission timer on “most non-story missions”. Again, be wary of your saves and make sure you have them backed up before giving this a shot.
This one is from Long Wars Studios and “adds a development path for XCOM soldiers in the Guerrilla Tactics School, allowing them to train special perks that benefit the entire squad.”
