THQ is to sell off Big Huge Games, the team behind the popular Rise of Nations RTS.As part of THQ’s cut-back plans, THQ are now looking to sell Big Huge Games within 60 days. If the developer can not be sold, the studio will be closed down. Big Huge Games were working on an announced RPG with The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion designer Ken Rolston.Two other THQ development studios, Heavy Iron and Incinerator, are also being moved away from THQ and “will be spun out as independent companies.”These latest studio closures are part of THQ’s plans to cut costs by $220 million USD, and there are planned job cuts of 600 employees worldwide.Commenting on the studio closures, THQ stated “These actions were unfortunate but were necessitated by the difficult economic environment.”
