Your Blood Pool in V Rising is, essentially, a second health bar, as it represents how much blood is left in your character’s body. It will get depleted over time, especially when you use abilities (i.e., Blood Mend), when you take damage, or when you simply need to slake your thirst. By feeding on your enemies, you’ll be able to replenish your Blood Pool. But, there are also some adverse effects to consider. The basics of blood
You’ll be able to feed on an enemy in V Rising once you’ve lowered their health significantly. A prompt to press the “F” button will then appear, leading to the action. While this is going on, your character is still vulnerable to other types of damage. However, once the action is completed, your Blood Pool will be fully replenished.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg given that you also have to take note of an enemy’s Blood Type and Blood Quality in V Rising. All you need to do is mouse over an enemy and the relevant information will appear under the target’s nameplate if they’re a valid living creature (i.e., definitely not skeletons, constructs, or elementals).
Blood Types
This is also where a bit of management and careful selection comes in because enemies in the game belong to a certain category, and the quality of their blood provides corresponding bonuses. Here are the Blood Types that you’ll see in V Rising:
- Creature – These are predominantly animals (i.e., bears, wolves, and deer).
- Worker – These are passive or weaker human NPCs (i.e., farmers and villagers).
- Warrior – Heavily armed soldiers and bandits.
- Brute – Similar to Warriors, though there’s a change in how they’ll engage you in a fight.
- Rogue – Archers, assassins, poachers, and trappers.
- Scholar – If they look like they can cast spells, then they’ve got this Blood Type.
Blood Quality effects
Below, you’ll see the Blood Quality bonuses for each Blood Type in V Rising. Depending on what you want to achieve at a particular time (i.e., farming resources or fighting bosses), you might want a specific Blood Type active.
But, that’s not all, since you also need to make sure that the Blood Quality is high enough for some effects to be active.

| Warrior | 10-20% increased physical power | 8-15% cooldown reduction for weapon skills | 7.5-15% reduced damage taken and 25% increased damage when striking enemies at full health | 15% chance to parry an attack, reducing the damage taken by 50% and increasing your own damage by 25% |
| Brute | 7.5-12.5% primary attack life leech | 7.5-15% increased primary attack speed and gain +1 gear level | 20-35% increased healing received; heal self for 4% of victim’s health once you deal a killing blow | 6% chance per relative health recovered to boost movement speed by 20% and damage of primary attacks by 25% |
| Rogue | 10-20% chance to crit with weapons | 8-15% movement speed | 12-25% cooldown reduction for travel skill; 100% crit chance on your next physical attack after using a travle skill | 50% chance on a critical strike to expose a target’s armor, increasing all damage taken by 15% for four seconds |

Note: The maximum value for Tier 4 is 99% Blood Quality. However, it’s still possible to find enemies with 100% Blood Quality in V Rising, though the search can take a while. If you can manage to feed on someone that has 100%, then you’ll get a 30% boost to all the effects of that particular Blood Type.
The Blood Moon
Last but not least, there’s a chance that you’ll experience a Blood Moon in V Rising. This is slightly different from the normal nights that occur in the game. While the Blood Moon is active, all effects from the current Blood Type are increased by 20% and your movement speed is also increased by 10%.
