A sequel to The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is releasing this year

Don't lose your head.
The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners Sequel Chapter 2 Retribution

Charge your VR set and oil up that chainsaw, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is getting a sequel this year. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution is the agonizingly long name for the game, which returns you to the zombie-ridden streets of New Orleans. According to the announcement on the Meta Quest page, the game will somehow be “even more intense and gruesome.”

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners sequel is obviously set to launch on the Meta Quest. After all, it was the Oculus blog bringing us this little reveal. But fans should also expect it to land on Steam, much like it’s predecessor. According to the game’s Twitter page, Chapter 2: Retribution is a standalone sequel that takes place right after the events of the first game. Expect to see “new characters, new threats, and new gut-wrenching decisions.” Developer Skydance Interactive is still, erm, fleshing out the game. And it expects to provide more information at a later date.

“The past two years have been absolutely incredible for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and we’re grateful for the continued support from the player community who have helped make the game the success it is today,” said Chris Busse, head of Skydance Interactive, in a press release. “We’re excited to announce Chapter 2, and we can’t wait to let players explore the new adventures that await them in the French Quarter and beyond.”

I have a lot more questions to axe

Unfortunately, that’s about all we’re going to get for now. Any details on The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners sequel is going to have to wait a bit. But considering it will launch off what the original left behind, I’d say we can safely speculate. There will no doubt be more gore, as promised. The original game had you lopping off walker limbs and gave you the ability to embed an axe into their heads. It wasn’t a wholesome game, as we already knew more than two years ago.

That’s not to say that more of the same is bad. The first game released to positive reviews from critics and fans, so it’s clear that Skydance knows how to weave a bloody good yarn. We’ll have to wait just a bit longer to see how The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution (that name, though) sets itself up as a proper sequel.
