Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Patch 13 – Class Overhaul and Xbox Release!

13 is my lucky number.

What you can find in Warhammer 40,000 Darktide is not only a very entertaining first-person action shooter, but also a game heavily supported by their developers, Fatshark. Well, things now will change quite a bit, and this isn’t an exaggeration. Patch 13 not only brings Darktide to Xbox, but it also brings customization options thanks to the new class-specific talent trees. These will provide all the abilities buffs you will need or never thought you needed in the first place. Here is what Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Patch 13 brings to the table.

The main change introduced in Darktide Patch 13 – a big one, to be honest – is the class overhaul. This consists of introducing class-specific talent trees that will feature different paths the player can activate and upgrade. Each of these paths will feature nodes and abilities that will impact the way the player uses its class. Each class (Ogryn, Psyker, Veteran, and Zealot) will receive one talent tree with three different paths to choose from. So long the day of using Veteran exclusively as a stealth or support class. Welcome the days of “Why not both?”. Each node will fit into one of the following types:

  • Blitz ability. Grenade abilities.
  • Combat ability. An ultimate ability with a high impact on the game and is bound to a cooldown.
  • Keystone. Playstyle-related abilities.
  • Talent. Interactive buffs.
  • Aura. Team buffs.

There are a total of 24 abilities (6 per class), with 16 of them debuting alongside Patch 13. In that same regard, there are 12 new passive talents, three per class. You can check each of the class’s exclusive abilities here. Once your character reaches max level, you will have a total of 30 talent points you can use to spend in the talent tree, however you please.

If that was not enough, Fatshark is also launching Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on the Xbox Series X/S. Not only that, but it brings full integration with the PC release of Darktide. What does that mean? Well, how about crossplay, content parity, and Day 1 Game Pass sound? To me, it sounds like a great way to get to more Darktide players while also opening up possibilities for veterans. Moreover, you will have several controller layouts that will contribute to an already personalized gameplay experience. Regarding performance, here is what to expect on both console versions:

  • Xbox Series S: Darktide runs at 30fps on 1080p.
  • Xbox Series X: Darktide runs at 30fps on 4K in Graphics mode, and 60fps at 1440p on Performance mode.

And there you go! Patch 13 looks like it’s bringing a lot more variety for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide which will allow you to tackle missions in increasingly unique ways. Take care of enemy hoards and pick the best talent tree path for your build. Most importantly, pick the best abilities that will fit your playstyle. You will need whatever it takes to survive, after all.
