Last weekend ArenaNet revealed the first expansion for Guild Wars 2 and this is how it panned out.
The development team, which included ArenaNet co-founder Mike O’Brien and Game Director Colin Johanson, were on-hand at PAX South last weekend to reveal the Heart of Thorns expansion and in this video they explain all the new features that are coming in the next instalment.
Anyone who’s been playing the game since launch will have been enjoying the Living World seasons but this expansion opens up a whole new zone, the Maguuma Jungle, so there’s lots more to explore as the Guild Wars 2 story continues to unfold.
There’s no level cap increase this time though so the new features they’re adding such as the Mastery system and the new Revenant class better be enough to keep players engaged. MMO players tend to enjoy watching an XP bar creep up slowly and race to be the first to reach a new cap. ArenaNet want to “re-envision of progression in an MMO” but whether they can pull it off remains to be seen.
A list of all the new feature additions can be found in our post from last weekend and this video pretty much covers everything you need to know for now.
