Fan favourites Rust and Shipment always get their time to shine during double XP weekends. However, nothing lasts forever. Now, we are being given all-new Rustment 24/7 in MW3, but what exactly is this Frankenstein of a game mode?
What to expect from Rustment 24/7
I have a number of friends who, over the double XP weekend and endless Rust and Shipment events, have completed nearly everything Modern Warfare 3 has to throw at them. They used the meat grinder that is these two maps to complete every weapon unlock, every camo, and all challenges. But now, these two game modes are over.
Now we are posed with a whole new 24/7 mode in MW3, and it comes under the name Rustment. As you can probably imagine from the imaginative name, this game mode combines the two fan favorites into one. It will now be possible to play alternate games on both the Rust and Shipment maps forever.
The Rustment 24/7 MW3 mode will feature the Kill Confirmed, Domination, Hardpoint, and Team Deathmatch modes in rotation to try to keep some kind of variation. However, these maps will still just be the circle pit of death they usually are.
I have to admit, I did make the most of the double XP weekend and the combination of both Shipment and Rust 24/7 to grind out a lot of my weapon challenges. There is little skill involved in them, especially Rust, but they do guarantee easy kills no matter what you’re using. This is why the community is always calling for their return.
The introduction of Rustment 24/7 will keep the crowds happy while other MW3 game modes are given a bit of space. The lack of originality and skill makes for very mindless repetitive gameplay. It can’t all just be about XP farming and completion… can it?
