What to do after the first boss in Palworld

Lost? Overwhelmed? Let's fix that.

One of Palworld’s biggest strengths is how open-ended it is and how much freedom is given to the player. The issue is that after you’ve beaten the first boss, there’s little direction on what to do next. If you’re in this situation, let me show you what to do after the first boss in Palworld.

What to do after beating the first tower in Palworld

You’re free to do whatever you wish after beating the first boss, but it’s always good to work toward something. If you’re looking for inspiration, here’s what I recommend:

Explore the map

While arguably the least exciting suggestion on this list, I strongly recommend exploring the map and activating every fast travel location. As more crafting options open up, you’ll thank your past self if you’ve done your due diligence, as you’ll quickly have access to uncommon materials.

It’s a good idea to mark your map if you find any Ore nodes near Fast Travel points, as you’ll need mountains of the stuff for mid-end game crafting.

Level up your character

You’ll level up passively by capturing Pals (ideally, 10 of each type for the EXP), but it’s essential to your progression in Palworld. The best armor and weapons in the game are locked behind your character level and the Technology tree.

If you neglect to level up, you’ll miss out on everything from unlocking Guns to saddles for your larger Pals. If you’re struggling to earn a decent amount of EXP, check out our guide for a crash course.

Build up your base

You don’t need to be creative to enjoy Palworld’s base building, but having a fully functional settlement is a good idea. It never hurts to have a healthy stockpile of ammunition, Spheres, and resources, so ensure your base is full of the latest unlocked technology.

Your Pals can fulfill many base duties, which ties in nicely to my next suggestion.

Put your Pals to work

Pals can do many jobs in your base and can almost make it completely automated. Each Pal type has a different set of Work Suitabilities they excel at. If you pick carefully, you can take care of most menial tasks without ever lifting a finger, and it’s satisfying watching your Pals work together.

Defeat Mini-Bosses

Most of the toughest Pals in the game are visible on the map with icons marking their position. These mini-bosses get notably stronger the further you are from the starting area and are great encounters to test your skill and gear.

You may have already beaten a few mini-bosses on your way to conquering the first Tower, but you’ll reveal some utterly brutal fights as you explore the map. All mini-bosses are capturable and can offer huge bonuses to your combat proficiency.

Conquer the Towers

If you enjoyed the Grizzbolt boss fight, why not prepare for another tower battle? Several towers are spread across the map, each offering a fight far more intense than Grizzbolt’s. These fights are brutal gear checks, so you’ll need to engage in plenty of the activities outlined above to succeed.

Palworld is rather light on story and direction, and Towers are one of the few ways to measure your progress. Many of these structures are hidden in dangerous places, surrounded by powerful wild Pals. You’ll need strong armor, weapons, and Pals to assist you in these demanding challenges.

Those are my picks for what to do after your first Tower clear, but the sky is the limit. The journey is just as important as the destination in Palworld, so go at your own pace. If you’ve been collecting Pals for EXP and don’t know what to do with them all, we have a guide on what to do with your extra Pals.
