The perfect work Pals

One of the coolest parts of Palworld is base building and how your Pals bring that aspect of the game to life. With the right Pals, you can almost make your bases self-sufficient. If you’re wondering which Pals are best suited to the job, let me show you the best base building pals in Palworld, ranked.

What makes a good Base Builder in Palworld?

Every Pal has several Work Suitability stats determining what it will do at your base. While you may think a ton of different stats is a good thing, in my experience, it’s a double-edged sword. I’ve noticed that Pals with wide-ranging skills often just wander around aimlessly.

Many of the best Pals will take multiple hours to find, let alone catch. With this in mind, most Pals here are obtainable early to mid-game but feel free to swap them out to suit your needs. Here are my picks for some of the best Base Builders in the game:

#10 Foxparks

Work Suitability

  • Kindling LV1

Foxparks is a cooking machine and a phenomenal Pal to catch in the early game, and it has a single stat point in Kindling. While this doesn’t sound like much, your trusty fox will always be by your side, boosting cooking speeds across the board.

While not a base-building trait, Foxparks offers easy access to a powerful Flamethrower ability, making this Pal viable at home or out in the field.

#9 Sparkit

Work Suitability

  • Generating Electricity LV1
  • Handiwork LV1
  • Transporting LV1

You can’t dabble in Electricity until reaching level 26, but Sparkit is one of the easiest Pals to find when you require the skill. Handiwork and Transporting are good staple abilities when Electricity isn’t needed, and Sparkit is nimble enough that it won’t get stuck or overcrowd your base.

Sparkit spawns at low levels near the start of the game. Even if you won’t get value from Electricity immediately, Handiwork and Transporting are excellent Quality of Life skills.

#8 Robinquill

Work Suitability

  • Lumbering LV1
  • Planting LV1
  • Medicine Production LV1
  • Transporting LV2
  • Handiwork LV2
  • Gathering LV2

Filling your base with Pals that excel at specific tasks is efficient, but having one jack-of-all-trades can be helpful. Robinquill can do almost everything and has Transporting LV2. Even if Robinquill doesn’t always complete tasks, it wanders near stations and transports the resources into boxes. If you’re tired of walking over piles of stones and becoming immediately over-encumbered, this is the Pal for you.

If you notice Robinquill isn’t working with your squad, I recommend swapping it out, but I’ve got plenty of value from this Pal at my base.

#7 Lyleen

Work Suitability

  • Medicine Production LV3
  • Handiwork LV3
  • Planting LV4
  • Gathering LV2

Medicine Production is a niche skill as your Pals will hopefully stay healthy. That said, if your Pals get sick, the Medicine Production skill can be handy. While I typically recommend Pals with fewer skills, Medicine Production won’t always be required, and Planting, Handiwork, and Gathering are all valuable backups.

An early game alternative to Lyleen is Bristla, with a similar spread of Work Suitability.

#6 Gobfin

Work Suitability

  • Watering LV2
  • Handiwork LV1
  • Transporting LV1

While large Pals like Surfent are great for Watering, I find they get stuck because of their size. With this in mind, I recommend Gobfin to take care of your Watering needs. Gobfin has a LV2 stat in Watering and Handiwork and Transporting can prove helpful.

The stat distribution means Gobfin can get distracted, but Handiwork and Transporting are desirable skills in their own right.

#5 Dinossom

Work Suitability

  • Planting LV2
  • Lumbering LV2

Dinossom requires space as it’s so large, but it has LV2 stats in Planting and Lumbering. Planting is a pain to maintain by yourself, so having a Pal focus on it is a great way to amass a ton of food. Lumbering is another essential skill, as wood is required in countless crafts in Palworld.

#4 Eikthyrdeer

Work Suitability

  • Lumbering LV2

Eikthyrdeer is an incredible Pal for your base as it specializes in one thing: Lumbering. If you leave this majestic creature at your base, you’ll constantly hear the banging of wood being chopped at the Logging Site. As Eikthyrdeer is a large Pal, I recommend putting the Logging Site in an area with plenty of space so it doesn’t get stuck.

This Pal doubles as a great mount and is widely available in the early game. You can use the Foxsparks Flamethrower to make short work of Eikthyrdeer and capture this fantastic Pal early.

#3 Tombat

Work Suitability

  • Mining LV2
  • Transporting LV2
  • Gathering LV2

Tombat has been my dedicated Miner for a long time. While the Gathering stat is a little out of place, Mining and Transporting go hand-in-hand. Tombat can fill boxes with stones from the Stone Pit and is like a mini resource loop.

Pals usually transport resources to the nearest box, so give Tombat a dedicated container near a Stone Pit and watch the resources roll in.

#2 Broncherry

Work Suitability

  • Planting LV3

Broncherry is a mid to late-game Pal but is one of the absolute best for Planting. This Pal has a LV3 Planting stat and nothing else, so it will never get distracted by other tasks.

You may prefer a pal with a wider stat distribution by the time you find a Broncherry, but it’s worth freeing up space at your base when you catch one.

#1 Anubis

Work Suitability

  • Transporting LV2
  • Mining LV3
  • Handiwork LV4

Anubis is an end game Pal and a major asset to your base. This Pal boasts LV2 Transporting, LV3 Mining, and LV4 Handiwork. The stat combo means Anubis will Transport whatever it mines, and Handiwork dramatically speeds up any building that needs to be done. Anubis is out of reach for most players at the time of writing but is a great Pal to shoot for in the future.

While the Pals on this list are great for furthering your base-building endeavors, there’s room to be flexible. Keep a close eye on what you need, and use the Pals in your roster to fill in the gaps.
