What’s the difference between Ship It! Express and Battle Royale in Fortnite?

2 Fast 2 Furious.

Seasonal events in Fortnite are a big deal because you get a whole bunch of new things to do and engage with. For the annual Winterfest, the game has tons of more content packed in such as new skins and activities.

On top of that, for the 2023 iteration of the event, there are new modes. The one that stands out the most is called Ship! Express Game mode which does play like a battle royal. It’s an interesting mode that differs from the base battle royal game of Fortnite. Find out the difference below.

Fortnite: What’s the difference between Ship It! Express and the normal Battle Royale?

If you’re puzzled by the changes, you’re not alone. The Ship It! Express mode plays a lot like the battle royal but with some drastic gameplay changes. First, there are no guns. To fight, you can only use throwable items like grenades. Second, you’ll see more supply drops with better loot.

The game mode as a whole will force you to play closer to the enemy which results in faster battles. The Ship it! Express mode is somewhat harder, paring the fact you can only use throwables and you need to fight in close combat. For me, this can make gameplay kind of more fun because I’m sporadic whenever I play. However, I can see why many may be turned off by the limitations.

How to start Ship it! Express

It’s easy to start, however, I did spend a good while looking for the mode. You need to look for the game mode in the “Made by Epic” category. It should be that row. Starting up Ship It! Express is like any other, but I do recommend going in with friends. With the harder playstyle and with more things removed, having friends or playing in a group makes things easier.

To look even cooler yeeting throwables at other players, try getting the Spectra Knight skin. Don’t know how to get it?
