How to get a Makeshift Gaol Key in Dragon’s Dogma 2

There are a couple ways to get Makeshift Gaol Keys in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Many merchants, such as the one in Melve, will sell them for 3,000 Gold each. This is pretty expensive, but is far cheaper than paying for the extortionate bribes.

These Keys, being makeshift, will only be useful one time. So it may be wise to buy a couple, or even a few to be on the safe side.

You may be lucky enough to come across a Makeshift Gaol Key inside of a Gaol cell. If your cell has a pot in it, be sure to break it and chance your luck. Some cells also have a wall that can be destroyed with your bare hands – there may be a key in a neighbouring cell for you to use.

Finally, you may just be able to find them in chests in the world, so always keep an eye out.

What is Gaol in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

A lot of you will be wondering whether it’s worth purchasing a Makeshift Gaol Key. If you plan to abide by the law, then you don’t need to. For “Gaol” is just old speak for “Jail.” It’s a Makeshift prison key.

This can only be used once, which will get you out of your cell. You’ll still need to escape the Gaol, though.

Very soon in the story, you will be lent a proper Gaol Key that can be used for any number of times, so try to plan your wrongdoings for when you have that key. You will need to hand it back when the quest is done, however.

How to use the Makeshift Gaol Key in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To use the Makeshift Gaol Key in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you simply need to interact with a locked Gaol door, such as your cell. Upon doing so, you’ll enter a menu and can select the Makeshift Gaol Key.

This will consume the key, so you won’t be able to do it again unless you have spares or until you buy another. So try not to get caught by the guards, lest you be thrown in Gaol again.

With or without the Makeshift Gaol Key, you can still bribe your way out of Gaol, but it’s super expensive. It’ll be worth buying at least one just in case.

I hope this has clarified the Makeshift Gaol Key for your usage, Arison. Players may find themselves thrown in Gaol if they’re having a hard time with the Disa’s Plot quest, so make sure you know how to complete it.
