Where to find Gold Ore in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Strike gold!

Gold Ore is a valuable material in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that can be sold for money or used for upgrades. Some quests also require finding some, but sometimes that’s easier said than done.

Gold Ore is just like Copper or Silver Ore in that it can be found on walls within caves or on cliffs. However, it’s a much rarer material to find in my experience. I’ve only ever found two Gold Ore veins in my time with Dragon’s Dogma 2 so far. So beyond knowing where Gold Ore exists already, you’ll have to keep a sharp eye out to find some.

If you need a guaranteed Gold Ore drop, you can head to the point marked on the map above. The Gold Ore is situated on the wall of the cliff right next to the water. You should be able to get at least four Gold Ore chunks from this spot. This location will also give you a reference for what Gold Ore veins look like.

Elsewhere, you’ll want to focus your search for Gold Ore in Dragon’s Dogma 2 on cliffsides and inside caves. Also, pay close attention to your Pawns because they may spot Ore Veins that you miss.

Wandering merchants

Your second best bet for finding Gold Ore lies in randomly meeting a certain wandering merchant. You can find these by looking out for anyone holding a big backpack. The stuff on offer will differ from merchant to merchant, but if you’re lucky you’ll find someone selling all types of ores.

This method allowed me to buy five Gold Ore for 5,000 Gold. And while that’s indeed pricey I’ll take that over wandering the hillside for a few hours.

Unfortunately, there’s no quick way to find merchants like this selling Gold Ore in Dragon’s Dogma 2. I’ve only ever stumbled across them by pure luck most of the time. My advice is to keep wandering the main roads and see who you bump into.

Eventually, you’re bound to run into a merchant that sells what you need. Just make sure you sell off any gems in your inventory beforehand so you’ve got plenty of money to spend.
