You find the case for this key pretty early on in the game. As soon as you head to the Halperin Hotel for the first time, it’s on the back of a truck on the right as soon as you enter the area’s first big road. The issue is, you can’t find the key yet. The key requires some main story progression before you can access the crate itself.

What you’re going to need to do is complete the Halperin Hotel area before you can get the Military Supplies key in Dead Island 2. The final boss of this area is a Crusher, and beating this means Crushers can spawn in the game world. Allowing that to happen is vital because the enemy that drops the key is a Crusher-type enemy.

Once you’ve beaten this area’s main story and Crushers can now spawn in the world, you’re going to want to go back to the start of the Halperin Hotel area, the road where the crate is to be precise. On this road you should see a Crusher with the unique name ‘Drill Sergeant’, this is the enemy you need to kill to drop the Military Supplies key.

After defeating this tough enemy, you should have the Military Supplies key, and you can go open the crate to get the item that’s inside of it.
