Hideo Kojima Is Impressed With The Power Of The PS4

Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear games has recently praised the PS4 and its power saying it was able to render 1080p at 60fps “with room to spare”. He ought to know his stuff since he’s been creating games for decades now so it’s a good sign that the PS4 has impressed him.

In an interview with Famitsu (presented in English by DuelShockers), Kojima explained that the PlayStation 4 allows him to get closer to photo-realism than ever previously possible.  He continued: “I think, between the home consoles available in the domestic market, the PS4 is the best,” he added. “It’s also excellent for graphics, being able to render 1080p at 60fps with room to spare. Since it does it a little better than other hardware, the image quality of the PS4 is the most beautiful. It’s the closest to the photorealistic quality we are aiming at.”

For those of you thinking that Kojima has just basically said that the PS4 is better than the Xbox One, guess again. He said: “I think, between the home consoles available in the domestic market, the PS4 is the best,”. The Xbox One is NOT currently available in Japan and is due to be released there later this year.

This image is a great example of just how far technology has come. What you’re looking at is Solid Snake (left) as he appeared in Metal Gear Solid in 1998 and Big Boss (right) as he will look in Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain.

Hideo Kojima’s upcoming games are Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes will act as a prologue to The Phantom Pain and be much shorter. Ground Zeroes will be available in March whilst The Phantom Pain’s release date has not been confirmed.
