World of Horror update found you

New World of Horror update comes jam-packed with content

A frighteningly big update.

Released on Early Access during February of last year, the niche rogue-lite RPG World of Horror did not receive a huge amount of attention. Those who did play it, however, found plenty to like, such as its distinct 1-bit art style and an intriguing brand of horror inspired by Junji Ito and H.P. Lovecraft. Ever since October 2020, though, fans have wondered about the state of the game, as its developer, panstasz, stayed radio silent for about a year. But now that silence has broken in a big way, as World of Horror just received a major content update titled “The Ceaseless Curse.”

One of the major new features that the update adds comes in the form of two new mysteries to solve. These mysteries task players with “[taking] care of a weird friend with a dark secret and [exploring] a seemingly abandoned mansion full of grotesque paintings.” Additionally, the update implements new modding features as well as two new playable characters: the witch and the ex-cultist.

Delve even deeper

The update also allows players to delve deeper into characters’ backstories through the addition of new character-exclusive events. For those who want more challenge out of World of Horror‘s core gameplay, the update incorporates a new challenge mode that “pits experienced players against carefully designed playthroughs with devilish mechanics.” Finally, for fans who enjoyed the game’s city planning aspect, the update introduces “additional actions” for the feature that players can work with.

World of Horror fans will no doubt feel delighted over this new update, as it injects new life into a game that has remained dormant for a long time. This update is still for the Early Access version, but players should be able to receive the first full version of the game sometime next year. Hopefully, fans will not have to wait as long to find out exactly when it will arrive.
