Genshin Impact: How to unlock the Altar of Mirages domain

An underground temple within an underground temple.

The Sumeru Desert zone in Genshin Impact has a few domains that you can visit. One of these is the Altar of Mirages, hidden deep beneath Khemenu Temple. However, you won’t be able to access it from the get-go, since you’ll still need to progress further in one of the game’s world quests. Here’s our Genshin Impact guide to help you unlock the Altar of Mirages.

Genshin Impact guide – How to unlock the Altar of Mirages

To unlock the Altar of Mirages in Genshin Impact, you’ll need to progress further in the Golden Slumber questline. The initial portion of this actually triggers a landscape-altering sinkhole, whereupon you’ll discover the Red Desert Threshold domain.

From there, just follow the objectives until you’re able to enter the Khemenu Temple/Mausoleum of King Deshret. Specifically, you’ll want to use the fast travel point in Khemenu Temple. Move forward to the next chamber, then head right.

You should find yourself in a room with several stone pillars and an hourglass device. The room to the right here is where you need to go. You’ll see a Dendroculus and a small hole.

Note: To clarify, I did not notice if the door here could be unlocked already when I initially did the tasks in the Mausoleum of King Deshret. It might be that you’ll need to complete a later section of the quest to gain a higher clearance.

In any case, head down the hole and glide to the bottom. You can then tag the Altar of Mirages domain in Genshin Impact, turning it into a handy fast travel point.

Note: Apart from the Altar of Mirages and Red Desert Threshold, you can also unlock the Garden of Endless Pillars, which is further northwest.
