Something important to understand about Caits is that no matter what you do they will still be rare encounters. If you have bad luck it can take quite a while for one to appear so don’t feel disheartened if a Cait doesn’t show up. Thankfully, there are a few methods available that make Caits less rare and easier to find.

Before attempting to farm Cait in Octopath Traveler 2 you need to unlock two things. First is the Hunter classes’ ‘More Rare Monsters’ Support Skill which can be equipped after unlocking six Job Skills. The other is Cait Powder, an accessory given as a reward for completing the ‘My Beloved Catharine‘ side story. These two unlocks stack with one another to increase the odds of encountering a Cait.

Caits spawn just about everywhere, but it’s important to stick to areas where you can consistently kill or flee from encounters. A good area to farm Caits is Western Crackridge Wilds, a Danger Level 28 area west of Crackridge. To find Caits in either Western Crackridge Wilds or your chosen area simply run around until you find an encounter. If it’s not a Cait, then flee the encounter and repeat.

When you do eventually find a Cait there are a couple of things you’ll need to know to farm them efficiently in Octopath Traveler 2. Most physical attacks will miss Caits and therefore it’s better to use elemental magic attacks. Also, missing an attack or not dealing enough damage fast enough will cause the Cait to flee. Using Soulstones is a good alternative to kill Caits if you don’t have any powerful elemental attackers in your party.
