Ex-God of War dev David Jaffe loves Starfield: ‘Easily one of my top 3 games of all time’

Is Starfield a great game?

There are a lot of positive and negative reviews and opinions of Starfield being tossed about but David Jaffe, an ex-PlayStation-exclusive developer who created the original God of War and Twisted Metal says that Starfield is “easily one of (his) top three games of all time.” That’s really high praise coming from someone who has made great games and has likely played a lot of great games. He goes even further by trying to stomp out the unquenchable flames of the console war.

In David Jaffe’s original tweet, he says that Starfield is “easily one of (his) top three games of all time” which is insanely high praise, but he also advises, “Don’t let this childish console ‘war’ nonsense keep you away from this brilliant thing.” And I completely agree!

I think we’re seeing a decline in “console war” thinking, but Xbox’s acquisition of Bethesda was an undeniably massive blow to PlayStation players. Starfield not being available on PlayStation now (and maybe never) does unavoidably spark the “console war” debate again. However, from the Reddit threads and tweets I’ve seen, people are buying high-end PCs and Xbox Series X|Ss just to play Starfield (and any other great PC/Xbox games in the future/from the past).

I love seeing PlayStation developers praising Xbox games and Xbox developers praising PlayStation games. Gaming is supposed to be a fun community where we all enjoy fantastic worlds beyond our own. It’s easy for me to say because I have access to every console, but like David Jaffe, I’m “console agnostic” and celebrate when great games come out on any platform.

While I personally wouldn’t go as far as to say that Starfield is easily one of my top three games of all time, I will join David Jaffe in saying, “You owe it to yourself to get Gamepass for a month and try out Starfield.” If the creator of some of the greatest singleplayer action adventure series of all time says, “If you love 1p action adventures, you owe it to yourself,” then you definitely owe it to yourself to try Starfield and get your own opinion of it.
