All Boost Packs in Starfield, Ranked

Which boost pack is the best?

One of the main points of attraction of Starfield is the exploration. To be able to travel to a whole bunch of diverse planets and explore the surface is why a portion of the players enjoy the game. Naturally, having to run everywhere on foot would grow tiresome and boring, which is where the boost packs come into play. With a whole skill branch dedicated to the use of boost packs, they will be an integral part of your gameplay. Here are all four boost pack types in Starfield, ranked.

Starting from the worst and making our way to the best, below is a list of each boost pack in Starfield, alongside why they are where they are. My own personal opinion has dictated the list, but my reasons provided will allow you to make your own judgments on these boost packs.

Skip Boost Pack

You may be as surprised as I was to find the skip boost pack in last place. This is because this pack does not get you very far or high before it runs out of juice. Now I know this is because the skip boost pack has the unique perk of regenerating power at a 1.5x rate, however, I don’t really think that’s much of a bonus.

It could be crucial in certain combat moments when you need short but constant use of your boost pack. On paper that sounds great, but practically, the use of the other boost packs trumps this rather situational use.

Due to it coming up short on all practices of a boost pack, I can’t say I’d recommend the skip boost pack at all.

Basic Boost Pack

The basic boost pack is simply the standard for boost packs. Average performance all around. It does perform better than the skip boost pack, even if it recharges slower. You can’t really complain about the basic boost pack, although it’s not one you’ll be wanting to hold onto for long. It becomes obsolete compared to the other two boost packs.

Balanced Boost Pack

The balanced boost pack is a truly fantastic boost pack, and my prefered boost pack of choice. It has the best horizontal reach in the game, making surface exploration as efficient as it can get. It also has the second best hovering distance and the second best vertical reach, making it a truly exceptional and well-rounded boost pack.

Due to its many balanced strengths, this boost pack makes travel the easiest, and allows for numerous boosts, making it effective in combat situations.

Power Boost Pack

The power boost pack is a beast of a pack. Objectively, it is better than the balanced boost pack, although I prefer the balanced one for general use. With the best hovering distance and vertical reach, this boost pack is the best you can get if you want the high ground to Obi-Wan Kenobi your way out of situations.

It does only allow one huge boost that takes all of your juice, but it rewards you with the highest reach, so a fair trade off. You may need this pack if there are any particular ledges you just can’t reach.

Which is the best boost pack for you?

All things considered, players should only really be concerned with the power and balanced boost packs, as they boast the best stats and compliment each other. If you can find a practical use for the skip boost pack, then go for it! I personally can’t see how it’ll be more useful in a situation than the balanced boost pack. But, Starfield is all about experimentation and exploration, so do whatever you think is best.
