With one ATB charge, Cait Sith can roll a die for interesting effects and buffs during combat. Although it’s entirely random, it got me wondering what each number does and how I could take advantage of this ability. Here’s a list of all the Roll o’ the Dice effects that Cait Sith can inflict in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

NumberEffect
1Fire and Thunder damage to all enemies.
2Hypurr Beam: A ranged attack hones in on an enemy.
3Wind and Ice damage to all enemies.
4Total Outrage: Fury status effect on the party. Quickens Limit charge, but become more vulnerable to damage.
5Regenerative Aura: Regen status effect on the party. Restores health gradually.
6Expansive Shield: Protect status effect on the party. Increases the entire party’s defense.

Like any six-sided dice, you can get any number between one and six. Each effect will buff you in unique ways (besides Hypurr Beam which is an attack), and the number is completely random. Well, unless you like to cheat a little by pushing the dice before it lands on a number. Even enemies can hit the dice to change its trajectory.

Best Roll o’ the Dice numbers

It’s tough to control, but nudging it may be a good way to push it off a number you don’t want. The best numbers are five and six, as they restore the party’s health and increase your defense. Number four can be good if you want to increase your Limit gauge, but it does come with a negative condition.

One and three can help Pressure a group of enemies if they’re weak to the chosen elements. There’s no situation where you want number two, unfortunately, the beam of magic is extremely weak and barely does damage to an enemy.

While Roll o’ the Dice is an excellent support ability in FF7 Rebirth, there are many other ways that your furry friend can be helpful, like through Cait Sith’s Folio upgrades.
