Just like in story mode, there are 76 total Peyote Plants in GTA Online. Each of them respawns after 24 in-game hours and provides 5,000 RP upon collection. There’s no reward for finding them all unlike story mode. These plants come and go in GTA Online, typically returning for Halloween and other various events throughout the year.

While most players associate them with the northern wilderness, plenty of Peyote Plants can be found in Los Santos. The green dots on the map above are standard Peyote Plants, while the blue ones are located underwater. Underwater Peyote Plants will let you explore the oceans as aquatic animals like sharks and stingrays, so they’re worth the dive.

The orange dots represent Peyote Plants that can turn you into Bigfoot if the feature is currently active. To become Bigfoot, you have to collect the specific Peyote Plant between the hours of 03:30 and 08:30 in-game while the weather is foggy.

They’re more scattered, but the rest of the Peyote Plants can be found in the northern half of the map among Sandy Shores, Paleto Bay, and Mount Chilliad. The same color scheme applies to this map as well, with green dots being standard Peyote Plants and blue ones being underwater Peyote Plants. In this region, the Bigfoot Peyote Plant is located at the base of Mount Chilliad. The same time and weather requirements still apply.

How to Use Peyote Plants in GTA Online

Once you’ve found a Peyote Plant, just approach it and press right on the D-Pad to collect it. As you get closer, your controller will begin to vibrate.

Consuming a Peyote Plant will begin a hallucination that spawns you as a random animal somewhere on the map. Each animal has unique controls, and you can even attack people if you gain control of a predator like a mountain lion. You can explore to your heart’s content from your new perspective and end the hallucination at any time by holding right on the D-Pad again. You’ll wake up at a hospital in Los Santos afterward regardless of where you began your trip.

Peyote Plants are one of the more unique aspects of GTA Online, so it’s a shame that they’re only available for a limited time whenever Rockstar brings them back. Speaking of animals, there’s a new Wildlife Photography Challenge currently live in GTA Online that lets you snap daily animal photos for cash and clothing.
