The roster will include Kameo characters. This mechanic is new to the series. These characters will add support to your fight such as extending combos, or defensive countermeasures. Now the fights have a new element, which in turn may help you get immersed.  It also seems like most of these Kameo characters will be unplayable, but some can be used on both sides. See the list below for which ones

In typical Mortal Kombat fashion, this list will grow. You could assume the game will feature seasons, and for each season, we may see several new characters.

Note: Shang Tsung is a pre-order bonus. On top of that, purchasing the Kombat Pack which is bought separately from the base game will include Ermac, Homelander, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, Quan Chi, and Takeda.

Kombat Packs aren’t new to the series. Mortal Kombat 11 had several that came out during the game’s lifetime. Having some of your favorite characters in comics, movies, and other media fight the contestants of Mortal Kombat is probably one of the highlights of the series. Bringing this back in Mortal Kombat 1 may win over new fans and excite older ones.
