Amnesia: Rebirth – The Portal Chamber and the pillar puzzle

The Portal Chamber in Amnesia: Rebirth might just be Tasi’s ticket out of this nightmare. But, first, you’ll need to solve the pillar puzzle nearby.

For now, go to the contraption in the center of the Portal Chamber and place the orb from the Alchemist’s Laboratory.

Look around to find a scaffolding and an opening. You might need to push some barrels just to climb up top.

Go through the narrow corridor and you’ll reach the second floor with the pillar puzzle.

Examine these from afar and you’ll notice indentations on the spires.

The goal of the pillar puzzle is to rotate the spires using the wooden wheels. That way, the indentations form a closed circle.

The wheel on the left can’t be moved, so just focus on the middle and right side wheels.

The solution, and bearing in mind that I’m just making names for these glyphs, is:

  • Left: “U”
  • Middle: “Dog”
  • Right: “Dog”

Next, examine the panel and rotate it until you get the “U – Dog – Dog” sequence. Move the selection box to highlight these.

Press the button and you’ll suddenly think that Amnesia: Rebirth became Independence Day.

Head back down below to the Portal Chamber.

Make your way to the sides of the chamber to spot the wheels.

Turn these so that the metallic devices in the ceiling are all aligned and able to filter the beam.

Press the Portal Chamber’s button and watch the process fail. However, you do get a fully-charged canister.

Go through a side passage that leads to a cavernous room with a camp. It’s near the scaffolding you clambered on top of earlier.

Here, you’ll find several notes, matches, and some additional storyline developments.

When you’re done, find a small cavern with a locked gate and a glowing glyph. There’s a nearby panel that you can open. Place the canister inside to raise the gate.

Don’t worry, you’ll return to the Portal Chamber later. For now, though, go ahead to the next area, the Hunting Grounds.
