Among Trees Launch Trailer early access

I was swept away when I first saw Among Trees as it debuted during The Game Awards last year. The visually-striking game was just too damn pretty for words. Today, during the PC Gaming Show, we got to see more from this gorgeous game. What’s more, is that you can now play it. Among Trees is available on Early Access at the Epic Games Store.

Among Trees is a survival sandbox game, though it doesn’t look like there will be much combat. There is a bear though, so there might be a bit of bear wrasslin’. On that topic, the news release does mention “deadly beasts that roam the forest,” and other dangers that come with the setting sun. Do you think Among Trees will pull a survival horror element out of its hat? If so, then the gorgeous art style is one hell of a bait-and-switch.

BOO! Haha, just kidding. It’s only plants. OR IS IT?

Rather, Among Trees looks to be mostly a pleasant experience. The trailer shows how you can slowly build up your log cabin over time, as well as cook food and water your plants. Exploration is also a major feature, in which you’ll wander through the dense forest, picking up delicious (hopefully not poisonous) mushrooms along the way. There will likely be other plants to discover (such as those ruby beets) and devour. The trailer shows how you can grow your own garden, which you can have in a greenhouse.

Among the trees and maybe some bees

Among Trees can be played starting today. The game is now in Early Access over at the Epic Games Store, and it’s already on sale. Among Trees can be picked up at 15% off, for $16.99 USD.

Again, there’s that damn warning. “Stay stealthy so that you can avoid the wild, deadly beasts that roam the forest – and who knows what other dangers the night brings,” reads the description at the store. Just what is going on in such a tranquil game that I have to be worried about night creatures? Is Slender Man out there fishing? Well, I suppose I’ll know once I play it a bit. Wish me luck, I guess.
